They should have some way of letting you know that there has been activity in your inbox without you having to manually check it. Perhaps a daily digest email or a gadget in Gmail or something.

I got accepted into the Google Wave preview two days ago. It’s pretty cool, and it has some awesome features like a new and really cool navigation system. I hope some of those features to make their way over to gmail.

If you’re sticking with the web interface of Gmail like me, then I highly recommend learning a couple of the more common keyboard shortcuts.

Sidebar: Their choice of using “[tab] then [Enter]” for sending a message is smart. It’s easy to find without being a combination you’re likely to hit by accident. And if you’re still worried about that, just enable the Undo Send Labs feature in your Settings. It gives you a couple seconds to retract a sent message if you just realized you accidently replied to all.

Pressing C to compose a new message or Shift+C to compose in a new window is probably one of the shortcuts I use most often. Pressing U instead of clicking “refresh” at the top of the inbox list comes in handy as well. I also press E when reading an email to archive it.
